Steven J. Lindsay

Of Counsel

Steven J. Lindsay serves as Of Counsel at Torridon Law PLLC, drawing from his significant experience in private practice, government service, and academia to advise clients in high-stakes, complex litigation and regulatory matters.

Before joining Torridon, Steve was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he specialized in high-stakes appeals and critical motions for Fortune 500 companies. At Kirkland, Steve often served as the legal-issues and brief-writing expert for multi-million dollar matters pending in trial courts, and has led briefing on numerous appeals before federal and state appellate courts. His commercial litigation experience covers a diverse range of practice areas, including pharmaceutical products liability, trade secrets, campaign finance regulation, railroad and aviation litigation, securities fraud, and FOIA disputes.

Earlier in his career, Steve was an associate at Cooper & Kirk PLLC, where he focused on developing legal strategy and writing briefs in complex constitutional cases. In two of those matters, Steve helped his clients secure en banc victories before the Ninth and Eleventh Circuits.

Steve was previously a law clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas of the Supreme Court of the United States and Judge Thomas B. Griffith of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He also served as a Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General at the United States Department of Justice, where he assisted the federal government in matters pending before the Supreme Court.

Steve is also a full-time member of the faculty of The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law as tenure-track Assistant Professor of Law. He also serves as a Fellow at the Law School’s Center for the Constitution and the Catholic Intellectual Tradition as well as the Separation of Powers Institute. His scholarly interests cover a variety of public law topics, including administrative law, legislation, civil procedure, evidence, and constitutional law.

Steve received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was an Articles & Essays Editor for the Yale Law Journal and a teaching fellow in constitutional law for Professor Akhil Reed Amar. His student note on the Administrative Procedure Act won the Israel H. Peres Prize, awarded annually by the Yale Law School faculty for the best student publication appearing in the Yale Law Journal. Steve received his undergraduate degree in politics from Princeton University, where he graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
