Patrick Ellis brings a variety of experience with motion practice, trials, and appeals to Torridon, having previously clerked for a federal trial court and a state’s highest court.

Before joining Torridon, Patrick clerked for the Honorable Thomas D. Schroeder of the United States District Court for theMiddle District of North Carolina in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and for the Honorable Sarah K. Campbell of the Tennessee Supreme Court in Nashville, Tennessee. He also worked as a summer associate at large law firms in New York and South Carolina.

Patrick graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University School of Law. At Duke, he was a teaching assistant for the Appellate Practice Course, an editor of the Duke Law Journal, and a member of the First Amendment Clinic. Patrick also competed for Duke’s Moot Court and Mock Trial teams. He finished as a semi-finalist in Duke’s Hardt Cup and Tulane’s Mardi Gras Invitational.

Prior to attending law school, Patrick graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina’s honors college. There, he served as the student government’s inaugural Speaker of the Student Senate, interned for the South Carolina Senate Judiciary Committee, and hosted a show for the campus radio station.
