Nancy Larson served as the Presidentially Appointed Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas, where she was the top-ranking law enforcement official for a district serving over eight million people in all federal civil, criminal, and appellate matters. As a career Assistant U.S. Attorney, Nancy has more than thirty years of experience in the Justice Department leading federal cases at the trial, appellate, and executive levels.
Nancy is a seasoned trial lawyer, who has tried numerous jury cases and served as lead counsel in hundreds of federal investigations, indictments, trials, and sentencings. Prior to her presidential appointment, Nancy focused on investigations involving financial services, securities, corporate, and health care fraud, often coordinating with the Department’s Civil Division, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, and State Attorneys General. She likewise has extensive experience investigating and supervising cases involving domestic and international money laundering, pharmaceutical diversion, cybercrimes, and domestic and international terrorism.
Having served as the Appellate Chief for the Northern District of Texas for ten years, Nancy is not only an experienced oral advocate, she formed and supervised one of the largest Appellate Divisions in the country. She was the district’s liaison with the Justice Department and the U.S. Solicitor General’s Office. As Chief, she also served on the U.S. Attorney General’s Advisory Committee’s Appellate Chiefs’ Working Group to assist the Attorney General in flagging and shaping nationally significant legal and policy issues.
Nancy previously served as the Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney, entrusted with district wide management across seven offices and was the lead advisor and problem-solver on the office’s most significant matters. She also served as the Professional Responsibility Officer as counsel to all Assistant U.S. Attorneys in the district on the rules of professional conduct and as the liaison to the Department’s Professional Responsibility Advisory Office and to the Criminal Division on professional conduct rules.
